The police of La Sirena City is on the hunt for an unusual kind of serial killer. The press calls him the Chess Killer, a murderous vigilante who likes to play mindgames with his prey. The cops don't know who he is or where he is. They don't know his secret. A secret that might make it impossible to ever catch him... Only detective Derryl Mears seems to get closer. Maybe too close for his own good...

IMO it gives more impact to keep the blacked-out parts.
As in, it's the sort of sh*t you say in those situations, they're not relevant - the situation is important [especially as it's a flashback].
